A. Of the schools that you list, only Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wisconsin have both a medical school and a school of veterinary medicine. There are others -- like the University of Minnesota, Auburn University and The University of Missouri that have both. There are only about 28 Vet schools in the US. See the link below to get a list. It should be easy to search to see which of these also has a midical school.

I have a question about college and veterinary college. Can anyone help?
Q. I'm 16, and I want to be a veterinarian. I'm wondering where to go to college in Florida. I've checked out a lot of colleges, and I see that they have the regular college courses, then they have "college of veterinary medicine." If you've completed community college, do you have to go to the regular college AND the veterinary college? Or do you just need to go to the college that has courses you're majoring in. Long story short, do I go to the college, or the veterinary college? Both? Sorry this is so confusing. Serious answers only. Thanks to whoever can help me(:

A. Most if not all vet schools will require a bachelors degree and the pre-vet courses to apply. Vet school is another 4 years after college. If you start at community college, you'll have to transfer, finish a bachelors, and then apply to vet school.

Should veterinary medicine (i.e. animal care) be included in "Obamacare"?
Q.
Asked by - Sat Jul 30 07:53:30 2011 - Government - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Yes. Give us the vote too while you are at it. We don't even get death panels as it is. Our "owners" (what a demeaning term) can simply decide to have us put down. And if we are homeless we get sent to animal Auschwitz. This is unfair. What would the world be like if parents could just have their kids put down if they get too annoying and disruptive? Probably much less back talk, but that's another issue.

What is more useful for Veterinary Medicine: an undergrad in pre-vet OR animal science?
Q. I'm very interested in pursuing a career in Veterinary Medicine. I have found colleges that have a pre-vet course as a stand alone area of study OR an animal science degree. Which is more useful/practical? To extend on this question, is Pre-vet even a major? Or would biology be the major to go after?
Asked by - Sun Feb 26 10:41:46 2012 - Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Pre-vet is not a major, but a group of classes you can take to prepare you for veterinary college. Biology is a good major. Chemistry and biochemistry are great majors. Animal science would work, but won't make you stand out as an applicant. Honestly, you don't even need a science related major, but it would help you the most.

How will the new "health care reform" placed in the stimulus bill affect alternative medicine?
Q. The proposed health care reform will define which doctors are "meaningful users" of the system, and I was wondering if alternative health care providers (chiropractors, massage therapists, etc) will be considered "meaningful users".
Asked by xanadeu - Wed Feb 11 12:32:28 2009 - Law & Ethics - 2 Answers - Comments

A. The proposed "Health Care Reform" included in the stimulus is designed to do one thing: allow the government to decide who lives and who dies in order to "boost efficiency".

So they say "laughter is the best medicine"...?
Q. What is it that your dog does, or has done, that's so ridiculous and funny that it's got people talking? My JRT mix runs around on 3 legs all the time. He even switches which leg he holds up. Every time he goes down the stairs he takes the last two on his front legs only. People always think he's injurred, but after a thorough veterinary exam , it was decided that he does it to entertain himself. Which makes it all the more funny for us!! How about your dog?

A. LOL! My three-legged Mini Schnauzer comes to work with me, and often sits at recep. When an office chair is vacant, and a client comes in, he takes the opportunity to jump on the chair, push it towards the nearest counter, then leaps up on the counter and literally in to the client's arms. Its those darn terriers!

What are some colleges that offer Veterinary Medicine,Animal Biology, Natural Sciences, Pre-Vet. medicine?
Q. I want to become a vet and im looking for a college in california that offers majors that have to do with veterinary training or teaching. Im defiantly going to take biology though. I want to go to a college that offers that and still be a part of a sorority, so i can also enjoy college. * I herd being apart of a sorority makes college life a little more fun.
Asked by - Sun Jun 13 20:14:42 2010 - Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers - Comments

A. If you choose California, you have lots of options since most of the UC's offer biology degrees. In fact, UC Davis has a very good veterinary medical school as well as a very well known medical school. You should go visit the schools such as Davis, UCLA, UCSD, etc to find out which one fits you more. Some schools are more social than the other, UCSD is basically known as a party school in the UC system, so is UCSB. And of course, being a part of sorority will help you meet lots of people with the same interests. :) Best of luck

Why is any talk of making sure americans all have access to affordable health care called"socialized medicine?
Q. What does it have to be socialized medicine to make sure people have affordable healthcare? and dental care? Why are people bent on painting the most evil picture on a thing that helps people?
Asked by ron j - Wed Aug 22 00:29:09 2007 - Politics - 3 Answers - Comments

A. we already have socialized medicine. it's called Medicaid. it doesn't have to be referred to as "socialized". All most of us are asking for is a very large "group" insurance plan , where all the people in the U.S. are eligible on that group. Our premiums can be in the form of taxes and if it is that large of a group, all of our premiums will drop dramatically.

A. There are a lot of free online science fair projects for 5th grade but many are not reliable. They will give projects but not in details and this can make your 5th grade child project a failure. Choose carefully.

A. Be the office manager at any vet's office. It pays well, and you get to pick and choose your contact with the healthiest, most friendly animals. You don't have to euthanize anything, or drain an anal gland. Best of both worlds.

A. First of all the 'flat earth society' is 5,000 years also, so does that make it correct? Second to 'V' Sorry Rhianna I had to get those off my chest first, you're right of course Mythology and folklore came to my mind before I read all of your question. To those who still think it works other than by placebo, have a look at James Randi's re-issue of his $1,000,000 challenge to Homoeopaths and the people whom peddle their 'toy' tablets.

is it possible to major in veterinary medicine and minor in animal rights activist?
Q. or major in both. im a freshman in high school and its always been my dream to be a vet. but lately there's been a lot of sh*t going on concerning animals and i want to do something about it.
Asked by Julia J'aime. <3 - Tue Apr 1 21:36:15 2008 - Higher Education (University +) - 2 Answers - Comments

A. I doubt there is any college that has a major or minor program in animal rights activism. But if you become a vet, you will learn about that stuff. You can take classes in philosoph and ethics too, poitical science classes might help. And there are a lot of organizations out there that you can join now to help out, and they'd probably love having a vet (when you become one) as part of their group.

What do you prefer: "Natural medicine" or the Vet?
Q. I was just skimming through the questions and noticed that a lot of people are in support of "natural" or "holistic" cures for animals. As a future Veterinarian I take offense to those comments about Vets not being necessary, because without them many animal diseases and health issues could not be controlled or prevented. What is your opinion?
